Brunch is done well in Los Angeles, a town that’s experienced in mash-ups. Danin jac-quay-A brunch enthusiastic and horror lover who moved to the city of angels from Ohio and decided to explore new opportunities, grew up in ltaly and Germany, Danin got into photography when she was young, playing her parents camcorder and making videos was her first transitioned into the art world, we decided to work together on an issue for our daily blog after seeing her works, meet the photographer exploring in plastic with a dreamy documentation of all things cute and colorful.
1.Can you introduce yourself a little?
My name is Danin.l am an artist. l grew up in ltaly and Germany and moved to America in high school,I do photography and art direction, l love masks and horror and all things cute and colorful.
2.When did you decide to move to Los Angeles?
I decided to move to L.A. around 6 months ago, l got laid off from my job in Ohio and got offered a severance package. With that money, l bought a random plane ticket with no return here. l had decided if l was ever going to make it in the art world, l would need to be where the art was and where the like minded humans were.
3.How did you start taking pictures?
I started making little movies when I was younger.My parents had a camcorder and l would make little TV shows with my sister. This slowly transitioned into taking photos and what I do now.
4.When did you start your instagram account?
Sol believe l didn’t get an Instagram until 2012. I had an android prior to that (against my will) and l used to always wish l could have Instagram when l first got it,l mostly just used it to post photos of myself and my wigs, and eventually, it transitioned into showing more of my photography and art.
5.As a young artist, how does it feel like to live in L.A.?
So l just moved to L.A. around 6 months ago and l will say… it feels confusing, you get the highs and lows, there’s the potential to work with other talented people, but at the same time, you’re like….why is the cost of living so high? How am l going to pay all my bills without working a full day job, in which a full-time job doesn’t allow any time to work on personal work, it’s rough, i feel for all of us with this struggle, but on a positive note, l am so glad to be here, it feels right.

6.What do you enjoy doing outside of your art?
l am a horror movie fan, l want to watch everything and anything disturbing or sad, l love listening to podcasts, l like dancing even though I’m not good at it, l am also passionate about brunch, ask me to brunch on a Sunday, i’ll probably never say no.
7.Where do you get inspiration from?
Inspiration for me could come from anywhere, even a small conversation l have with someone just in passing, they could say something like “l stepped on a needle the other day” and l swear a light bulb appears above my head. BUT, i’m super inspired by imagery from my childhood, the colors of Goosebumps, Barbie and Lisa Frank. l’m also inspired by the beauty and how we perceive it, what it means to be “perfect”, it seems to be a longtime focus for me and something l am constantly intrigued by.
8.What’s the relationship between your work and the internet?
A lot of people have negative feelings about the way the internet has impacted them, and their relationships, but for me, it’s really positive.l have a way to connect with people and feel heard in some ways, the internet itself inspires me, the vulnerability l see from others online, inspires me. Memes, inspire me. Instant gratification one can receive online,fascinates me.
9.What are your most recently used emojis?
Don’t even get me started on that new(ish) clown emoji, l am OBSESSED! l use it all the time for no reason,l always use all the hearts too.
10.Top 5 spot in L.A?
Good question.. Let’s see… l really haven’t been to too many places honestly.

11.Any exciting thing coming up?
Very exciting stuff coming! l am art directing a and hopefully multiple music videos now, and so you’ll be seeing those soon enough!
12.Anything we don’t know about you that we should?
I run another account called @notnormalhotdog that is just purely for fun, but it’s essential, all the photos you never knew you wanted to see! it will make you laugh!
