Recent favorite band? Our answer goes to Kero Kero Bonito.Their cute 8-bit music has been our background music in the studio for a while now. Earlier this year we spent some time with the girl rapper Sarah from KKB, wandering in Stoke Newington, chatting about life in London. Interview & more photos as below!
Hello Sarah! Can you introduce yourself to us?
Yoyoyo—!! I’m Sarah Bonito from Kero Kero Bonito★☆
Tell us a bit about Kero Kero Bonito? How did you all meet?
Jamie and Gus knew each other from school. I met them on the Internet.
What do you try to say from your music? How do you see yourselves in “the London scene”?
Fun is the new cool. We bring the party down to London and the world!
You guys just returned from SXSW, how was it? What was the highlight of the trip?
We smashed it!Highlight for me was meeting all the people we knew on the Internet and yummy tacos.
What’s your music\vocal background, Sarah?
I used to play the saxophone in a brass band.
Apart from KKB, you are also an artist right? What’s the initiated passion?
Yes! Sarah Midori Perry is my artist name.My art is a manifestation of my world. I think there are things that you cannot express fully with words and visual expression is a different channel I use.
You grew up in Japan and moved to the UK when you were 12 (If my memory is correct..)How does living in these 2 counties influences your art work?
I have inspiration from two different cultures and I feel that some values and beliefs are culturally relative. This makes me open minded and freer in the way I express.
Personal obsession recently?
I love Die Antwoord.
Any projects or plans coming up you want to tell us about?
Life is a continuous project! I’m going to paint the world with Sarah Bonito! 🙂
Where can people find your art work?
I’m working on a website right now but until then you can check my work on my Facebook Page↓
