It all started in 2010 when two designers Chay Su and Rika Lin, inspired by cartoons and comic book illustrations, decided to turn flat 2D sketches into real bags, which still looked flat yet were fully functional. Using bold outlines, bright colors, and optical illusion, Chay and Rika created a “jumping” effect—as if the bags were drawn on paper but magically brought to life. Hence, the name JumpFromPaper was born.
Driven by the mission to bring joy into daily life and subvert the conventional rules in fashion, the brand quickly became viral. Why take everything so serious? – JumpFromPaper was asking the world, normalizing quirkiness and playfulness in the industry which had always been about looking chic and cool. The childlike sincerity of the their designs instantly attracted numerous followers including style icons like Katy Perry and Susie Bubble.
